The Homework Ate My Dog
This is the final project of my kinetic typography course. It is about a young boy trying to get his Chinese writing assignment done on time.
Apologies if you don’t understand Chinese. Just know that the concept is based on the green grid of the Chinese manuscript paper all Asian schoolchildren are familiar with, which comes alive and morphs into different forms as the right words continue to elude the boy. The Chinese characters also jump around as if they’re taunting him.
My older animations are pretty clean and smooth, which is starting to bore me. I really enjoyed working with the erratic rhythm and going out of my comfort zone every once in a while.
MUSIC CREDITS: Seamstress Extraordinaire, by Tin Hat (from their album “Helium”), one of my favorite music groups. The track has been edited to fit the video, and this version doesn’t do justice to their brilliant music. Check them out here: http://www.tinhat.org/
